Temple Pershing Petroleum considers a potential site for the development of a new oil refinery
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE London, 10 April 2026
MEDIA STATEMENT
Temple Pershing Petroleum has deployed a senior team to evaluate a potential site for the development of a new oil refinery, as part of the company’s ongoing strategy to expand responsible energy infrastructure.
In 2025, it was publicly reported that sister company TPMC, working within a consortium of Middle Eastern partners, pursued the acquisition of the Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery following its UK closure. TPMC submitted multiple competitive bids with a clear plan to redevelop the refinery, safeguard existing jobs, and strengthen the regional economy.
Despite this, the site was awarded to neighbouring Phillips 66, who have since confirmed they will convert the facility into a storage operation. This decision has resulted in the loss of hundreds of skilled jobs and has delivered a significant blow to the local economy. TPMC’s proposal would have preserved employment and driven long‑term economic value, and the company remains disappointed that its redevelopment plan was not adopted.
For the past six months, Temple Pershing Petroleum has been actively pursuing alternative opportunities to advance its growth strategy. The company is also in late‑stage negotiations to secure direct fuel supply routes from Singapore to several African nations it currently supports, strengthening energy security and supply resilience across those markets.
Temple Pershing Petroleum remains firmly committed to responsible expansion, operational excellence, and the creation of long‑term value for the communities and partners it serves.
